King Charles and Queen Camilla set to visit Australia in 2024: report

King Charles and Queen Camilla are on the cusp of confirming their first visit to Australia since the coronation, it’s been reported.

King Charles and Queen Camilla are set to visit Australia in late 2024, it’s being reported.

“King Charles is planning to visit Australia and New Zealand in October,” a diplomatic source told the Sydney Morning Herald on Tuesday.

It’s been widely speculated for months that the monarch has been planning his first tour Down Under since ascending the throne.

The visit, which is expected to coincide with the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Samoa next year, will also mark the royal couple’s first time in Australia since 2018.

CHOGM is a week-long event, held every two years, and involves 56 developed and developing nations including Australia, Malaysia, Rwanda, India, Jamaica, Canada and New Zealand.

It will next commence on October 21 - and its unknown whether the royals’ visit would take place before or after the meeting.

“It would be next October, it’s very possible it will happen. It would be around the time of CHOGM that he would come, either before or after, that would make sense,” the government source told the publication.

It comes just days after Camilla’s son, Tom Parker Bowles, told reporters for The Age and SMH that his mother and stepfather were heading to Australia.

“He’s coming next year, I think,” he said, although added that he “really didn’t know” any other details.

“There’s always a royal tour somewhere. I always assumed that Australia was a very important place to visit,” he said.
