Harry would be happy to see William but no plans for brothers to meet

The Duke of Sussex would have ‘gladly accepted’ a reunion with this brother while in London to see a recovering King Charles but it is ‘unlikely’ the brothers will meet.

‘Not surprising’: Prince William ‘has no plans' to see Prince Harry during UK visit

The Duke of Sussex would have “gladly accepted” a reunion with this brother but instead slept the night in a London hotel after visiting his father over his cancer diagnosis.

As the Prince of Wales prepares to carry out his first public engagement outside of Windsor Castle since his wife’s operation and the King’s cancer diagnosis, it is “unlikely” the brothers will meet.

“Harry stayed in a hotel and is hopeful of meeting with his brother but it is unlikely to happen today. William has a full schedule of work and is insistent on focusing on his wife, who is recovering from abdominal surgery,|” said royal expert Richard Fitzwilliam.

“It’s great that Harry met his father, albeit briefly, but the brothers’ relationship is trickier.

“Harry would have gladly accept a reunion if it comes his way.”

Although Prince Harry and William have no plans to meet during the Duke’s stay, it is hoped mutual friend Mark Dyer, who mentored the brothers after the death of their mother Diana, will succeed in arranging a meeting between them.

As the future heir officially returns to public duty today, he is expected to publicly acknowledge his father’s illness in a speech at the London Air Ambulance annual fundraising gala in the evening.

William is also expected to possibly thank wellwishers and speak about what the Royal Family has been through since his father’s diagnosis

Although Prince William, 41, returns to work earlier than planned on Wednesday morning with an investiture, the palace has said he will not rush back full-time and insists on making his Catherine a priority.

Both William and Queen Camilla are expected to share the bulk of the king’s royal duties following advice from doctors to postpone public engagements.

“After Wednesday, you won’t see much of him after that,” a palace spokesman said.

“The prince has always made clear that his priority is to support his wife and family for the time being and he did not put a timescale on that.”

It is understood the Prince of Wales’ team at Kensington Palace are speaking to Buckingham Palace about which public engagements William could potentially attend in his father’s place.

Wednesday will be William’s first appearances since Princess Catherine went into hospital. She is set to resume public duty at Easter.

At the morning investiture, he will award more than 50 honours, including one to former England women’s footballer Ellen White, 34.

In the evening, he will attend the London Air Ambulance annual fundraising gala in central London. He has been the charity’s patron since 2020.

The dinner is being held in support of the charity’s largest fundraiser, hoping to produce £15 million ($29,183,359.70) to replace its helicopter fleet.
