Crown Prince Frederik has reappeared without Australia’s Crown Princess Mary after photographs emerged showing him spending time with Mexican socialite Genoveva Casanova sparking speculation they were having an affair.

The Danish royal, 55, has been photographed in camo gear hosting an official royal hunt in the snow-drenched grounds of Gribskov forest after Casanova denied having an affair with him.

In one photo Frederik is shown trekking through Gribskov, Denmark’s fourth largest forest, with an all-male group.

In another, the prince smiles as he rubs his hands together around a fire pit.

Frederik appears a world away from the alleged scandal that has stained his reputation but – by coincidence – Frederik and Casanova apparently first met on one of these exclusive hunts. Although it is not known if it was in Denmark, Germany or Austria.

The Danish Royal House shared the new photos on their official Instagram page with the caption “In rain and sleet, a Royal Hunt was held in Gribskov today.”

The caption continues: “The Royal Hunts are the Royal House’s official hunts that take place during the hunting season from 1 October to mid-January in the Danish state forests. His Royal Highness the Crown Prince hosts today’s hunt, while Her Majesty the Queen tonight hosts a hunting table in the Dome Hall at Fredensborg Castle, where it is a tradition to toast “to all brave hunters”.

It is not clear if Mary will also be in attendance.

Mary and Frederik were last photographed together two days ago with their eldest son, Prince Christian, after signing the declaration of the constitution at the Council of State, a major step towards becoming the king of Denmark.

A day earlier, Frederik hosted a gathering of the judging panel for a top Danish sports award at Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen.

Meanwhile Casanova is staying at her ex-husband’s house as the fallout from images of the pair continues.

Spanish magazine Hola! reports that Casanova was photographed out on a walk while staying in San Sebastian in the north of Spain amid the fallout from the images of her with Frederik.

The magazine claimed Ms Casanova is staying with her two dogs at the Palace of Arbaizenea, a property that belongs to her ex-husband Cayetano Martinez de Irujo, a Spanish equestrian champion who is the son of the Duchess of Alba.

Pictures of Crown Prince Frederik with Ms Casanova have rocked the Danish royals, putting the marriage of Tasmanian-born Crown Princess Mary under the spotlight.

In photos first published by Spanish magazine Lecturas, father-of-four Crown Prince Frederik can be seen spending time with Ms Casanova during a long catch-up in Madrid.

The pair strolled through the famed El Retiro Park after visiting the exhibition Picasso: The Sacred and the Profane.

The magazine claimed the pair then headed separately to Ms Casanova’s apartment where they changed clothes before emerging for dinner and a flamenco performance.

It is claimed the pair left the restaurant at 1am and got into a car before Crown Prince Frederik was spotted leaving the apartment the next morning.

Following the publication of the photos, Ms Casanova issued a furious denial that there was any romantic relationship between herself and Denmark’s future king.

When contacted by News Corp Australia, Amber Petty, a close friend of Crown Princess Mary who acted as bridesmaid at the royal wedding, said she could not comment.

Ms Casanova, who recently appeared on Spain’s version of Celebrity MasterChef, celebrated her 47th birthday last week.
