Princess Catherine is “thrilled by all the kind wishes and support” after sharing her cancer news publicly, according to her mother-in-law, Queen Camilla.

The Queen passed on the Princess of Wales’ thanks to fans during a visit to a Farmers’ Market on the Welsh border.

During her solo outing, Camilla was met by wellwishers who were desperate to send their best wishes to the princess.

Two young girls headed to the gates to see the royal, who was attending without her husband as he continues cancer treatment.

The young fans had made posters for the Princess of Wales which read “send our love to Kate”.

The royal promised she would pass the message on before telling the crowd: “I know that Catherine is thrilled by all the kind wishes and support.”

Catherine revealed in an emotional video message on Friday that she is undergoing preventive chemotherapy after being diagnosed with cancer.

She has been absent from royal duties since January when she underwent abdominal surgery at one of London’s top hospitals.

The future queen is not expected to return to public life until after Britain’s two-week Easter holidays.

In the moving video, the Princess of Wales said her diagnosis was a “huge shock” but vowed she was “going to be OK”.

Camilla was said to be a pillar of support and in regular contact with Catherine following her diagnosis.

The 76-year-old has also been King Charles’ “rock” following his own cancer shock and wants to be as supportive for Catherine.

The Queen has continued to carry out all of her royal duties and attended many events by herself after urging Charles to slow down.

Prince William has been by Catherine’s side throughout – taking a step back from his royal duties and pulling out of engagements at the last minute.

Charles has also rallied around his daughter-in-law as he continues to go through his own cancer journey.

Last week the King travelled to visit “beloved” Catherine, who was apparently keen to speak to the monarch about his own health and how he was coping.

Talking about the Windsor Castle get-together, a source said: “It is highly unusual for just the two of them to sit down together like this.

“The King had already been made aware that the woman he calls ‘my beloved daughter-in-law’ had cancer.

“They would have had lots to discuss and share because just weeks earlier the King had begun his course of treatment and dealt with announcing his diagnosis.

“The King left his lunch feeling very emotional. They are very close and he thinks of Catherine as his daughter.

“There is no doubt there is a lot they can share and can use each other for support during their own deeply personal cancer battles.”
