Nick Reiner ‘really resented’ father Rob before alleged murder
Rob Reiner and his wife reportedly got into a “very loud argument” with their son Nick at a celeb bash the night before they were murdered.
Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Reiner, reportedly got into a “very loud argument” with son Nick the night before their murders.
The alleged dispute took place at Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party on Saturday, according to TMZ.
The outlet claimed Monday that Rob and Michele left the party post-confrontation.
Nick, who was arrested on charges of murdering his famous father, Rob Reiner, “really resented his dad,” an insider has revealed.
A source elaborated to Page Six that Nick “hated himself for not being as talented, prolific or beloved as his dad or grandad.”
During his impressive 64-year career, Rob, 78, earned 90 acting credits, 55 writing credits, 32 producing credits and 30 directing credits, going on to win several awards for his expansive body of work.
Rob’s father, Carl Reiner, was also an actor, comedian, screenwriter, director and author whose career spanned seven decades and was marked by numerous accolades as well.
Meanwhile, Nick, 32, has been battling drug addiction for more than half his life. He co-wrote the semi-autobiographical film Being Charlie about his almost 20 stints in rehab, which was directed by Rob.
On Sunday afternoon, Rob and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, 68, were found stabbed to death in their Los Angeles home, located in the neighbourhood of Brentwood, with insiders claiming their throats had been slit following “a very loud argument” with a family member.
Sources also alleged that the couple’s daughter, Romy Reiner, 28, is the one who made the grisly discovery and told responding officers that a relative “should be a suspect” because they’re “dangerous.”
Page Six then revealed that Nick had been arrested on charges of murder in the case.
He is being held at Parker Center Jail in Downtown Los Angeles, with his bail set at $4 million (A$6 million), a rep for the LA County Sheriff’s Office told the publication.
In a statement, the couple’s “heartbroken” family — including son Jake Reiner, 34 — described the “sudden loss” as “unbelievably difficult.”
Rob is also survived by a stepdaughter whom he adopted, Tracy Reiner, 61, from his first marriage to Penny Marshall.
He wed Michele in 1989.
