Lily Allen has revealed a showbiz feud with an A-list TV star who once accused her of ‘leading him on’.

The singer and actress tackled the subject of the “beg friend” in the latest episode of her BBC podcast, Miss Me?

When Lily and co-host Miquita Oliver were asked by a caller if they had any celebrity “beg friends”, Lily referenced actor and comedian James Corden.

A “beg friend” is understood to be a person who “begs” for one’s attention in the hopes of friendship.

The 39-year-old explained how her BBC chat show Lily Allen and Friends, which aired in the late 2000s, played a part in the story.

Guests included the likes of Louis Walsh, David Mitchell, Robert Webb and James Corden.

Speaking on the podcast, Lily shared: “James Corden was a bit of a beg friend, for me.

“[He] came on my chat show and was very flirtatious with me, and we sort of made friends and I introduced him to a group of my friends.”

Following this, the Smile singer claimed James had previously accused her of “leading him on or something”, to which she said that she “definitely wasn’t.”

Clips from James’ appearance on Lily Allen and Friends remain available to view on YouTube.

In the 2008 chat, the pair recounted the first time they met, at the premiere of James’ film The History Boys. The stars also chatted about the then-upcoming second series of beloved BBC comedy Gavin and Stacey.

The sitcom was co-written by Ruth Jones and James – and will return for a Christmas special which is slated to be the final ever episode.

Ruth and James also play the popular characters Nessa and Smithy, respectively.

On Miss Me?, Lily added: “I’d say if I’ve ever had a famous beggy friend it was James Corden, back in the day.

“He’s not begging me anymore. I’m not begging him either.

“I can’t do anything for him now. He’s good.”

James, 45, returned to the UK last year after spending eight years in Los Angeles hosting the Late Late Show for CBS.

During his time in the US, he popularised viral segments including Carpool Karaoke. The comedic music collaboration saw the likes of Mariah Carey, Justin Bieber, One Direction and Stevie Wonder, among other superstars, take part.
