‘All the best’: Robert Irwin splits from girlfriend Rorie Buckey

Robert Irwin and his partner for the past year Rorie Buckey have released a statement about their personal lives on social media.

Robert Irwin has split from his girlfriend Rorie Buckey.
The pair, who have reportedly been dating for one year, announced the shock news in joint statement on Instagram on Saturday morning.

“We wanted to share that we have decided to go our separate ways but profoundly appreciate all of the time spent together and wish one another all the very best into the future,” the post shared on Buckey’s Instagram Stories read.

“We wish to express the gratitude and respect we have for one another as we continue our journey on different paths.”

The pair said they won’t be commenting further and requested privacy at this time.

Irwin and Buckey made their relationship public last July when they walked the red carpet at the Sydney of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.

The couple later hit the red carpet at GQ’s Social Force of the Year award where Irwin told news.com.au Buckey made his life “that much sweeter”.

“I think life is awesome for me every single second of every day,” the 20-yar-old said at the time. “But when love is part of life, every single thing is so much sweeter, so much nicer, and you take that time to enjoy every single moment. We are extremely happy.”

In December, Buckey announced on Instagram she had started working at Australia Zoo on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, which Irwin runs with his mum Terri and sister Bindi.

In her Instagram post, 19-year-old Rorie – who is reportedly studying a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy at Perth’s Curtin University – said she would be furthering her studies by researching crocodiles at Australia Zoo.
