MasterChef star Laura Sharrad has beenleft left her feeling “ashamed and disgusted” by an encounter at a restaurant where she was dining with her husband and newborn baby.

The TV chef welcomed her first child Florence Rosa in April with her husband, Max.

The family went out for breakfast recently as a trio, but a solo diner took issue with them.

In a post on Instagram, Sharrad revealed that the diner had complained about her daughter being too noisy while playing with a toy at their table.

“At brekky this morning, a solo diner started huffing and repeating ‘oh no really?!’ and continued to mumble under their breath about Florence loudly as Florence was giggling and playing with her toys,” she wrote in an Instagram story.

“Also noting the man behind me giggling at Florence and laughing with her. Not crying, giggling.”

Sharrad did not reveal where the incident occurred.

However, she revealed that her husband was quick to confront the diner, saying: “I’m sorry, she’s not crying, and we’re not trying to make her upset you – she’s a baby”.

“They continued and then marched out of breakfast and made a complaint to the waiter saying our child was screaming and grunting at the table and some bulls**t about it being unacceptable in the venue we are in,” she continued.

“This was a full-grown adult who was grunting at the waitress trying to impersonate Florence, as the few tables inside at breakfast stared at this person, embarrassed for what a joke of a human they are.”

She then said that a “mortified” waitress ran over and profusely apologised for the rude behaviour being displayed by the customer.

“Couldn’t finish my breakfast as I felt sick this happened, also annoyed I couldn’t say anything fast enough and clearly this person is a baby shamer and needs to some form of help,” she said.

“But also, if Florence was crying, I would have left, as I do, or settle her.

“I felt so ashamed and disgusted at the same time that this person was so disgusted by Florence and her having a jolly old time playing with her giraffe at 7am so we could eat breakfast.

“Everyone was (a) baby once, and I don’t want to be rude, but don’t come at my daughter … I’m sure that person was a f***ing miserable one to be around.”

Fans were left divided by the Instagram post, with some siding with the family and others sharing their understanding for the diner.

“A giggling baby is the best and certainly can change most people’s miserable moods but clearly not this person … sad day,” commented one in support.

“At the end of the day it’s a restaurant, and a lot of people have a reasonable expectation they can enjoy their meal without the noise of other peoples children,” suggested one.

While another added: “While we may make a fuss of our family or friends babies at the appropriate time, a noisy child in an inappropriate environment is annoying.”
