Earlier this week, Reese Witherspoon claimed that a fellow Hollywood actress ended their friendship after she “roasted” the unidentified woman while presenting her with an award, including saying, “Remember the time we got laser hair removal?”

With some sleuthing, fans seemingly have identified the mystery woman.

According to Just Jared, the celeb in question is Kate Winslet. However, the theory is not confirmed and is just based on fan suspicions.

During the 2007 BAFTA Los Angeles Britannia Awards, Witherspoon presented the Titanic star with the artist of the year award.

The Big Little Lies star had kicked off her speech by telling the audience, “I always wanted to be a European movie star, wear giant sunglasses, elaborate neck scarves, smoke hand-rolled cigarettes and have savoir faire and gravitas.”

“Imagine my good fortune when Kate Winslet moved into my neighbourhood, rang my doorbell and said, ‘Darling, Sam [Mendes] is off shooting, and I believe our children are the same age. Could they possibly have a play date? And oh, by the way, it’s almost 9 o’clock and I’ve had nothing to drink, do you have any wine?’”

Witherspoon went on to praise Winslet for her fearlessness — but also called her out for “pee[ing] all over herself in front of Harvey Keitel” in the 1999 indie film Holy Smoke.

Continuing the teasing tone, Witherspoon said the other stories she wanted to share were “too bawdy or tawdy or drunken to tell,” including the time they “contemplated laser hair removal.”

Earlier this week, Witherspoon revealed their alleged fallout in an interview with People.

“It literally haunts me,” she told the outlet in an interview with Will Ferrell. “So this friend of mine, who I didn’t really know that well but she was a very serious, proper actress, she asked me to give her an award. But I had never been to this award ceremony, so I thought it was like a roast. So I got up and I roasted her.”

Witherspoon added that the event was “British,” “elegant” and “classy” and that she got the tone completely wrong while cracking jokes onstage.

“I was like, ‘Remember the time we got laser hair removal?’ ” she recalled. “I’m still embarrassed about it.”

She said that the A-lister stopped talking to her after the faux pas.

“We’re not friends anymore. I’m not even kidding — we’re not friends anymore,” she continued with a laugh. “I think she doesn’t like me anymore. I thought it was so funny and it was just, I had the wrong audience. It was pretty bad. Yeah. Not even kidding, she doesn’t talk to me anymore. Oh, well.”

Winslet and Witherspoon have been seen together since that 2007 incident: They presented an award together at the 2016 Academy Awards.

Reps for Witherspoon and Winslet did not immediately respond to The Post’s requests for comment.
