Chris Hemsworth makes shock Australian accent confession

The Thor star has dropped an outrageous claim about his Australian accent, leaving local fans in a state of shock.

The Australian actor, one of our country’s most successful international exports, has absolutely rubbished our native accent, declaring it’s “not sexy”.

During a sit-down chat with his Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga co-star Anya Taylor-Joy for LADbible TV, the Thor star grimaced when asked to agree/disagree with the statement that ‘Australian is the sexiest accent’.

While Argentina-raised Taylor-Joy agreed it was, Hemsworth was quick to reject the assertion, saying, “Oh no, disagree. I hate the Australian accent.”

Hemsworth presented his case in point by dropping pick-up lines in overtly yobbo Aussie twang.

“How ya goin’ babe? Giz a kiss honey? Yaw lookin’ hot. Sor sexy,” the Avengers actor growled, as Taylor-Joy broke into fits of laughter.

“Ugh. Nature’s most powerful aphrodisiac, the Australian accent is not,” Hemsworth finished.

In what turned out to be a complete roast of Australians, Taylor-Joy admitted she watched Channel 9 reality show, Married At First Sight. Her lack of elaborating said it all.

“A friend of mine sent me a couple of episodes of [MAFS], and it’s intense man,” she said. “It’s a vibe.”

Fans took to the comment section of the video, uploaded to TikTok, feeling “betrayed” by Hemsworth’s comments.

“Chris you have betrayed us,” one Aussie wrote with a laughing emoji.

“I love our Australian accent! That was so un-Australian of him,” another wrote.

“Can’t believe Chris would do us like that,” a third added.

While Hemsworth, who is married to Spanish model Elsa Pataky, might not be a fan of his own accent, a recent study suggests the US disagrees with his opinion.

More than 1000 Americans weighed in on their perceptions of different national and foreign accents using audio samples from the Speech Accent Archive created by George Mason University.

The October survey, conducted by souvenir plot company Highland Titles, determined Australians had the most attractive accent among both females and males.

Scottish accents came in second place.

They were followed by London and Irish accents.
