Ryan Phillippe has revealed that he’s “proud” of the way he and ex-wife Reese Witherspoon have learned to co-parent their kids, Ava, 15, and Deacon, 10, despite an acrimonious split.
“It’s a feeling out process,” Phillippe told HuffPost Live! “I think we’ve gotten to a really great place … It’s going well, and she’s happy and remarried, and our kids are incredible. I’m proud of the way we’ve handled it and who our little people are.”
These days, the exes (who divorced in 2006 after seven years of marriage), even spend time together as a family.
“She was just in New York doing press for Gone Girl and Wild and we got to meet up as a family and took a walk through Central Park with the kids, and it was funny — we were reminiscing then because we shot a lot of Cruel Intentions [there], so there we were with Ava and Deacon talking, and they were tripping out on the fact that we were there shooting a movie before they were even a thought in our minds.”
For her part, Witherspoon gave Phillippe a shout out via Instagram a few months back, posting an old shot from the flick with the caption: “Ahh the 90s …#Cruelintentions #TBT.”
