One of Australia’s best-known TV stars has made a big announcement with his wife, revealing the pair are expecting their first child.
Bondi Rescue lifeguard Trent ‘Maxi’ Maxwell shared a series of photos to Instagram, with he and his hairstylist wife Tahlia embracing on the beach as she showed off her growing bump.
The photos were captioned: “Baby Maxwell coming soon.”
Fans delighted in the news, with friends and fans racing to wish him congratulations.
“So excited for you guys,” one woman wrote.
“Two of the best about to be three.”
Trent and Tahlia, who have been together for 11 years, married in an intimate ceremony on Sydney’s Northern Beaches in February 2020.
Shortly after the wedding, he told New Idea he was excited to become a father, and to pass down the advice he got from his own dad to his children.
“He always told me, ‘Be a hard worker, put your head down and don’t complain, just dip in and get the job done.’” he said.
“My dad’s a very hard worker and I’m very lucky that I follow his traits as a workaholic – good and bad, we’re always working but I don’t give in too easy and if I put my head down and my mind on something, I’ll achieve it.”
The couple’s journey has not been all smooth sailing, with Tahlia revealing on her 30th birthday that she was given only a 30 per cent chance of survival at birth and had undergone three heart surgeries and a pacemaker in a bid to beat the odds, leaving her with a large scar in the centre of her chest.
“Maybe it’s because of my defiant personality that I just had to (survive) to prove them wrong,” she wrote on Instagram.
“I feel strong, proud, happy and confident in the woman that I have become.
My scars were something that I would feel insecure about but now I love them deeply because they are unique to me. I have had many scary moments in my life with my heart thinking maybe it was the end, but I drew strength from all the people I choose to surround myself with and would always come back stronger than ever, with more determination and passion to strive for more in life.
I try to savour every moment as it flys by. I’m truely so lucky to have such wonderful people in my life, family, friends and clients. I just want to bottle you all up and keep you forever. Thank you for getting me to where I am.”
Trent, known as ‘Maxi’ on the show, was the youngest-ever professional lifeguard to work on Sydney’s famed Bondi Beach, and has appeared in 17 of the show’s 18 seasons.
In 2016, he became a firefighter, and works out of Bankstown Fire Station in the city’s south west.
