Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are well on their way to becoming billionaires, with an estimated net worth of $607 million from their movies, businesses and endorsements.
However, sales from the actress’s new beauty brand Blake Brown plummeted amid a tsunami of negative press around the premiere of her film It Ends With Us in August.
Lively, 37, has alleged it was a smear campaign orchestrated by her co-star Justin Baldoni, 40, after she accused him of sexual harassment and creating a toxic workplace.
The drama, which premiered in August, made almost $552 million at the box office; at the same time, sales of Lively’s product line fell an estimated 78 per cent.
Here’s what else is at stake for the stars and their empire.
FILM AND TV
Lively and Reynolds met while shooting the superhero flop Green Lantern in 2009 and share four children, daughters James, 10, Inez, 8, and Betty, 5, and son Olin, 1.
Lively shot to fame in 2005 when she starred in teen flick The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants and has gone on to star in the hit series Gossip Girl, earning up to $96,000 per episode.
To date, she has been in at least 24 movies, earning critical acclaim for her performances in the 2015 drama The Age of Adaline and 2018 crime thriller A Simple Favour.
Meanwhile, Reynolds’ first big role was the lead on sitcom Two Guys and a Girl in 1998 before he landed his first big-screen role in the 2004 film Blade: Trinity.
Now one of Hollywood’s most bankable stars, he worked his way up via a string of rom-coms, including 2005’s Just Friends with Anna Faris and Amy Smart, 2008’s Definitely Maybe with Isla Fisher and Elizabeth Banks and 2009’s The Proposal with Sandra Bullock.
Reynolds struck cinematic gold playing antihero Wade Wilson in a prequel to the hit X-Men franchise in 2009, which led to the runaway success of the Deadpool franchise.
Production company 20th Century Fox only agreed to finance the R-rated films after his cheeky DIY teaser went viral; the series went on to make A$4.2 billion globally.
Reynolds has won an Emmy, a Critics Choice Award and an MTV award for his work and these days he reportedly banks about $30 million per movie.
He was also named People’s Sexiest Man Alive in 2010.
LIFESTYLE BRANDS
In addition to her success on television and in film, Lively is a businesswoman, launching a line of non-alcoholic sparkling mixers in September 2021, a gourmet cocktail line called Betty Booze in June 2023 and hair-care line called Blake Brown in August 2024.
Lively is renowned for her style and has also appeared on the cover of Vogue and as an ambassador for fashion and beauty brands including Chanel, L’Oreal and Gucci.
Her highly anticipated beauty line, which retails through Target, was seven years in the making and promised to reveal the secret to her signature curly waves.
“We couldn’t have worked harder to make you a handful of products so good that they speak entirely for themselves. I can’t wait for you to give them a try,” she wrote online.
Blake Brown generated a massive impact in its first week before it was branded a “flop”.
Reynolds also has a knack for business — according to Forbes, the companies he either co-owns or has sold are now valued at approximately $22.4 billion.
The Canadian actor founded production company Maximum Effort in 2018 and has been referred to as a “marketing savant”, capitalising on his distinct sense of humour.
This includes Aviation American Gin, which he sold to alcohol giant Diageo for $975 million.
FOOTBALL CLUB
Reynolds also famously bought Welsh soccer club Wrexham AFC with actor Rob McElhenney in 2020, making headlines with their documentary Welcome to Wrexham in 2023.
The semi-professional club was playing five tiers down from the UK’s famous Premier League, but has had something of a Cinderella story since the pair took over, rising through the ranks to the third tier of British soccer, known as EFL League One.
As it climbed up, it start attracting interest from major sponsors as well as the glitterati, with fans such as Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd and Channing Tatum spotted in town.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reynolds and McElhenney are selling a minority stake and acquiring a local brewery in a bid to further grow the club and increase its influence.
And while Wrexham AFC is the third-oldest football club in the world, Wrexham Lager dates back to 1882 and is the oldest lager brewery still operating in the UK.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Reynolds turned a lot of heads when he sold Mint Mobile — a virtual phone network operator specialising in prepaid plans — to telco T-Mobile for $2.16 billion in 2023.
The serial entrepreneur has also invested in Montreal fintech company Nuvei Corp, Toronto cybersecurity start-up 1 Password and Boston funeral company Titan Caskets.
REAL ESTATE
The A-listers have an impressive real estate portfolio and spend the majority of their time near Pound Ridge, a leafy town just over an hour north of New York.
According to Architectural Digest, the property spans more than 11 acres and includes a house with seven bedrooms and six bathrooms, as well as a guesthouse and barn.
The couple also owns a loft in the trendy Manhattan neighbourhood of Tribeca, in a seven-story warehouse-turned-apartment block that dates back to 1883.
PLANS FOR 2025
According to IMDB, Lively has a number of big projects in the works for next year.
Top of the list is the sequel to A Simple Favour, which is in post-production, a crime drama called The Husband’s secret, which is currently in development.
Lively has also been linked to a Sapphic Netflix thriller called We Used to Live Here.
Meanwhile, Reynolds has multiple irons in the fire, including an animated action-adventure film called Animal Friends currently in production, as well as pre-production for comedies called Calamity Hustle and Boy Band and an action movie called Mayday.
