Fashion’s fairy Godmother Anna Wintour, who has been at the helm of the event for years, chose a more traditional dress code for this year’s event to tie in with the exhibition.
This sophisticated sartorial theme, “white tie and decoration” has so far seen long opera length gloves, ball gowns, and full skirts take top billing.
The annual fashion fete stayed true to it’s reputation of being one of the most daring and celebrated fashion events of the year with celebrities embracing colour, texture and embellishment.
The Beckhams kept things crisp and classic in clean white while icon Sarah Jessica Parker reigned sartorial supreme in a monochrome gown by Oscar De La Renta.
Lupita Nyong’o continues to impress style watchers after her fashionable debut during the awards season, opting for an emerald embellished flapper-inspired frock.
