PEOPLE Magazine have just crowned Aussie hunk Chris Hemsworth as their ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ for 2014 — but there’s reportedly another Hollywood heart throb who’s given the mag the cold shoulder for years now.

In recent years, actor Ryan Gosling’s fans — and there are many of them — have been quite vocal about People continuing to overlook their favourite for the ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ title.

After all, Gosling dazzled us all with his washboard abs in Crazy, Stupid Love, made us swoon in The Notebook and impressed with his brooding intensity in Drive. Heck, he even became an internet craze, with the Ryan Gosling ‘Hey Girl’ meme using as its basis the actor’s undeniable attractiveness.

So why no ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ crown for the 34-year-old Canadian?

According to new reports, it isn’t for lack of trying on People’s part.

“They tried a few times, especially during his huge year in 2011,” an individual close to the cover negotiations told The Wrap. Apparently, multiple efforts to give Gosling the nod were consistently squashed by the actor’s team.

“The consensus was he’s too serious for it, too artsy,” a source said.

There you have it: Ryan Gosling is a Very Serious Actor and we should all stop going on about how dreamy he is.
