Tracy Grimshaw blasts magazine for article about her ‘diva’ demands

A Current Affair host Tracy Grimshaw has hit back at New Idea after the magazine published an article about her “extreme diva demands”.
Channel 9 is set to move its Sydney studios from Willoughby to North Sydney in the second half of the year, and the magazine alleged that Grimshaw requested Channel 9 bosses “build a secret lift” from the carpark so that members of the public wouldn’t get to see her without make-up when she arrived at work.
New Idea also claimed that the respected journalist refused to use Channel 9’s hair and make-up team and hired a personal hairdresser instead.
A source told the magazine: “She (Tracy Grimshaw) sees herself as Nine’s number-one host and behaves accordingly – but, to be fair, Nine execs agree and are more than happy to oblige.”
Grimshaw hit back at the magazine in a fiery Instagram post and described the “diva” claims as “absolute crap”.
“I wouldn’t know anything about the lifts in the new building,” the Channel 9 star wrote. “Have had zero input, made zero requests.”
The A Current Affair host wrote that she arrived at work every day with no make-up and regularly went shopping and caught flights without make-up on.
“I once did ACA with no hair or makeup in Brisbane after wading through flood waters all day in 100% humidity,” Grimshaw added on Instagram. “A Sunday paper gossip columnist devoted her entire column to how poorly groomed I was.”
The former Gold Logie nominee wrote that her personal hairdresser had been doing her hair for 20 years and that she never used the Channel 9 wardrobe department.
“Have managed to dress myself since I was about 4yo,” she joked.
“And as for seeing myself as some big star? Spare me,” Grimshaw added.
“The weekly womens mags treat women like morons. Both their readers and those of us they use to sell copies.
“They have to make this stuff up, because none of us will actually talk to them any more. That’s a good business model isn’t it? Lie to your market, and piss off your main source of content.”
A Current Affair airs weeknights at 7pm on Channel 9
