BEING in the spotlight isn’t an unfamiliar situation for Rose Bryne, who wasn’t afraid to show some skin in her latest magazine cover shoot.
Hitting the cover of Violet Grey, Byrne was sure to sparkle when working with makeup artist Kate Lee.
The results were striking.
Sporting a black leather leotard and dazzling amounts of glitter, the black-and-white contrast accentuated her sharp features and slender frame.
In one shot the 35-year-old is seen with her eyes closed and hair slicked back, showcasing shimmering eyeshadow and flashy earrings. This is balanced with a classic black leotard which contours her body.
In another, the X-Men: First Class actor is seen side-on, where glitter meshes with her wavy hair, brought forward to mystify her face.
In an accompanying interview, Byrne reflected on the pressures placed on women to look presentable.
“Look at Hillary Clinton, she has to spend time getting her hair and makeup done when a male candidate doesn’t have to do that as much. Or at least as much grooming.” Rose continued, “It really is this very old concept that we are valued for putting ourselves together and presenting ourselves.
“However, it’s important to take care of yourself and it doesn’t hurt to put on a bit of lipstick.”
The Bad Neighbours star also spoke of her ideas of beauty and appearances in the acting profession.
“Beauty comes from within. It is a cliché, but I think it’s true.”
“But in this business, it’s hard to reconcile that when you’re constantly being told things about your appearance, whether you’re too pretty or too plain or brunette or whatever their problem is.”
