CHRIS Hemsworth has elaborated on why he chose to move his wife and children to the other side of the world, explaining that it became difficult to stay grounded in Los Angeles.

The Aussie actor appears on the cover of the Christmas issue of Vanity Fair and opened up to the magazine about Hollywood’s mission to “turn you into a total narcissist”.

The 32-year-old star said: “You just kind of lose touch with reality a bit here. You drive down the street and you’re constantly reminded of everything you’re either involved in or not involved in. It’s exhausting.”

The Thor hunk, his wife Elsa Pataky and their three children relocated to Byron Bay in January 2015, noting that the ever-present paparazzi in Hollywood grew tiring. He recalled Jennifer Lawrence’s recent gripe with the paps, saying: “What was it that Jennifer Lawrence said? ‘I know everyone says you’re not supposed to complain about the paparazzi. Well, I don’t give a sh*t. I’m f*cking complaining!’ But she can get away with that.”

Hemsworth, who stars as the Marvel superhero in two blockbuster series, reflected on the risks of starring in big-budget films. “When something costs $150 million and it doesn’t work, it’s your face, it’s your fault.

“And the character has fans. Are they still a fan or did you just make them never want to read the comic again?”
