She won the hearts of Australia as Harper on Heartbreak High, and now Asher Yasbincek is on the brink of the “biggest accomplishment” of her life.

Nominated for a prestigious award at Australia’s night of nights, the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards, Yasbincek admitted the news still hadn’t sunk in.

“This is honestly the biggest achievement I’ve ever had,” Yasbincek told The Daily Telegraph.

“The nomination feels like the best win I could ever ask for.”

When her on set bestie, Ayesha Madon, broke the news Yasbincek had been nominated for the best supporting actress in a drama award, the 24-year-old’s initial reaction was disbelief.

“I thought she was joking for like half an hour,” Yasbincek said.

“I’m still in shock. Honestly, I feel so incredibly overwhelmed with gratitude.”

Yasbincek didn’t anticipate such recognition so soon.

“There’s always a kind of hope, but I try not to focus too much on that aspect of it,” she said.

As Yasbincek gears up for the red carpet, the AACTA Awards are shaping up to be the biggest yet, with newly announced A-list guests, exclusive performances, and a glamorous after-party set to dazzle the Gold Coast this Friday night.

With big names like host Russell Crowe and Superman star Henry Cavill already on board, the event just got even more exciting with the addition of acting legends Miranda Otto, Sam Neill, and Bryan Brown, who will all be gracing the red carpet.

Music icons Robbie Williams and Paul Kelly will also take to the stage.

Yasbincek, who was born in Perth and debuted on Heartbreak High in 2022, said the role had truly changed her life.

“It’s the most amazing experience,” Yasbincek said.

“I’m living the dream I wished for and wrote down in my diary when I was in primary school.

“This is everything I’ve ever wanted to do.”

Currently shooting the third and final season of the show, Yasbincek, who was just 20 when filming began, feels bittersweet about the end of the journey but is also excited for what’s ahead.

“I can feel it coming to an end but I’m trying my best not to think about it too much because it’s overwhelming,” she said.

“If I think about it too hard, I’ll cry right now.

“I just love these people and I love this job so much.”

As for the highly anticipated new season, fans are in for a major treat in which will witness a new side of Harper.

“She’s really coming into her own and stepping into young adulthood,” Yasbincek said of harper

“I think she’s finding her way, exploring her creativity, and discovering the possibilities out there for her.”
