Bert Newton still has “a lot of living to do” despite being hospitalised this week.
The Australian television legend, aged 82, returned to a hospital in Melbourne for testing.
His wife of 46-years, Patti Newton, told her almost 30,000 Instagram fans that the four-time Gold Logie winner was okay.
“Berts (sic) been in hospital, all good. He’s got a lot of living to do,” she said.
In the picture, Mr Newton is seen laying on a hospital bed wearing a surgical mask and cap.
His wife’s post prompted an outpouring of well wishes from Australian icons, TV stars and sportspeople.
“Go Bert! Strong as an ox you are. Sending love,” wrote Olympian Leisel Jones.
“Sending all the love in the world,” wrote Julia Morris.
“Sending huge love to darling Bertie and to you (Patti). I know that song and are ready to sing it to him,” stage star Rhonda Burchmore posted.
“Get well soon lovely man! He’s got the best care in you Patti,” posted TV presenter Erin Holland.
Bert has been in and out of hospital in recent years. In 2012, he underwent a quadruple bypass heart surgery, then in 2017, he battled with pneumonia for the third time. The star also has anaemia, an ongoing condition that lowers the amount of red blood cells in the body.
