Bachelor couple Locky Gilbert and Irena Srbinovska reveal heartbreaking miscarriage

The Bachelor’s Locky Gilbert and Irena Srbinovska have revealed the “devastating” personal battle they’ve kept a secret, until now.

The Bachelor 2020 winner Irena Srbinovska has revealed she suffered a miscarriage not long after the finale aired last year.

The 31-year-old nurse, who won bachelor Locky Gilbert’s heart on last year’s reality series, said the stress she endured as a result of online bullying made their loss harder to bear.

In an interview with Who! magazine, Gilbert and Srbinovska said they fell pregnant and lost the baby during their “first few months together”, but chose to keep it private.

Srbinovska moved from Melbourne to Perth, Gilbert’s hometown, after they were able to go public with their relationship last year.

Not long after relocating, her father, Vasco, suffered a medical emergency and Srbinovska wasn’t able to visit him due to Covid-19 lockdowns.

She said this, combined with the social media backlash surrounding her new beau who controversially dumped runner-up Bella Varelis after telling her he was falling in love with her, led to insurmountable stress.

“During our first few months together I, unfortunately, suffered a miscarriage,” Srbinovska told Who.

“But Locky was my absolute rock and having his support made me love him even more.”

Gilbert then added a warning for online trolls.

“We are just normal people and while we put ourselves in the spotlight, you never know what is going on in our lives that day,” the 30-year-old adventure guide said.

“If you have to say something, then direct it at me, not my girl.”

Despite the devastating setback, the pair said they plan to start a family sooner rather than later.

“We talk about it all the time. We’ve even named our two future kids. We are on the same page there,” Srbinovska said.

“We talk about what kind of wedding we want all the time and are both keen to start a family. We aren’t spring chickens, so it’ll happen sooner rather than later,” Gilbert added.

Nearly a year after the finale aired, Srbinovska and Gilbert are still going strong.

The pair have been enjoying a seven-month road trip around Australia, and plan to return to Perth in the next three weeks to settle down in a new home.
