Logies 2024: Aussie celebs hit the red carpet
An Aussie Olympian who went viral has given some surprising words of encouragement to this year’s Logie nominees.

Olympic viral sensation Raygun has given any Logie winner the tick of approval to use her “signature moves” when they take to the stage to accept their award.
Academic and b-girl Raygun made international headlines at the Paris Olympics with her kangaroo-hopping dance antics.
Now Rachel Gunn, who goes by her stage name Raygun, has hoped her performance will inspire Aussie celebs at the 64th annual TV Week Logie Awards.
Raygun told everyone at the Logies that she gives them full permission to “pull out any of my signature moves in celebration”.
“Hello, Australia, Raygun here,” she said in a pre-recorded video.
“I just want to say congrats to all the Logie nominees and best of luck tonight.
“Please feel free to pull out one of my signature moves in celebration.
“Have fun and look after each other.”
Meanwhile, actor Rebecca Gibney was honoured with being inducted into the Logies Hall of Fame.
Gibney thanked those who have helped her along her career, including her husband who she met on the set of Halifax.
“If someone had told 16-year-old me who suffered crippling anxiety and severe body dysmorphia that one day I would be standing on the stage with this award, she wouldn’t have believed it,” Gibney said.
“Thank you firstly to the Australian public. Many have grown up with me and have supported me since the early days, and, like me, think 1984 was only 20 years ago.
“Thank you to the writers who have created the most wonderful characters for me to inhabit.”
Many of Australia’s acting community shared their delight at Gibney’s addition to the prestigious group of inductees - and only one of four women to be added to the list.
Hugh Jackman shared a recorded message thanking Gibney for her kindness and patience sharing his first on screen kiss in Halifax.
“You taught me a lot way back when,” Jackman said.
“I won’t say how long ago, but it was a while back. You’ve only been perfection and excellence personified ever since.
“This has been long overdue.”
Packed to the Rafters co-star Erik Thompson also congratulated Gibney on her big night.
“I count myself enormously fortunate to have made a friend for life, shared the screen for 122 episodes with tonight’s Hall-of- Famer,” Thompson said.
“No-one deserves this more.”
It comes as television’s night of nights has officially kicked off, with the 64th annual TV Week Logie Awards well and truly underway.
Everyone took the opportunity to dress in their finest as they graced the red carpet on Sunday.
And it wasn’t just the gents who stole the show in black, with SBS Insight host Kumi Taguchi using the opportunity to stand out with a touch of lime green.
Mother and Son stars Matt Okine and Denise Scott walked the red carpet together, after having developed a strong friendship filming the show.
It’s also going to be a night to remember for many but especially for those nominated for the 2024 Gold Logie Award for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television.
Those hoping to claim the top gong this year include Andy Lee, Asher Keddie, Julia Morris, Larry Emdur, Robert Irwin, Sonia Kruger and Tony Armstrong.
The real competition might be between I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here co-hosts Morris and Irwin who are vying for the title of Australia’s most beloved TV personality.
Irwin’s nomination made him the youngest male ever to be nominated for the prestigious Gold Logie.
The pair who instantly wowed audiences with their on-screen friendship in the jungle arrived in style on Sunday, with Morris wearing a stunning one sleeve red satin dress while Irwin opted for a a black tuxedo and bowtie.
Meanwhile, Kruger could go back to back with the Gold Logie, having taken out the prestigious award last year.
The Dancing with the Stars presenter is also co-hosting this year’s red carpet alongside her on screen presenting partner, Dr Chris Brown.
But Armstrong - the popular ABC sport presenter - also has his eyes on the prize hoping to round out his Logie awards with the biggest of them all.
It comes after he took out most popular new talent in 2022, then the Silver Logie for most popular presenter in 2023.
Comedian Sam Pang is again hosting the awards show at The Star Sydney after a successful first go at being master of ceremonies last year.
Meanwhile, Chanel 7’s veteran host, Edmur, is also up for the top award said he’s enjoying his moment in the spotlight.
“The reality is it would mean the world to me,” Edmur told The Daily Telegraph.
“But at the same time, it doesn’t mean a lot.
“I think that the Gold has always been reserved for the rock stars in the business. I’ve never considered myself that.”
The first few celebrities began hitting the red carpet on Sunday afternoon, including Nicole Kidman’s niece, Lucia Hawley, who donned a timeless white sleeveless gown for the event.
Singer Elly-May Barnes - the daughter of Jimmy Barnes - also graced the red carpet in a striking kimono inspired black and white dress.
