All this year’s Emmy winners as Succession dominates TV’s big night

Sarah Snook has won her first Emmy award, and in her acceptance speech, she revealed a little-known detail about her first child.

Sarah Snook wins an Emmy for Lead Actress, Succession

It seems only fitting to adopt a Logan Roy quote to summarise today’s Emmys - Succession “wins”.

The revered HBO series, which wrapped its four season run last year with a critically-acclaimed finale, has dominated TV’s night of nights yet again in the coveted drama categories, winning every award it was nominated for during the broadcast.

Australian actress Sarah Snook won her first Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress, following up her victories at the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards.

“Thanks to everyone who voted, and for loving the show as much as we did. We all put our all into it, and the bar was set so high. I think that’s what spurred us on,” Snook said.

“To my family, my mum and dad, I love you. Thank you for giving me a dress up box as a kid, I think this is where it gets you.”

A usually-private Snook, 36, also honoured her first child with husband Dave Lawson, who was born in May, saying they welcomed a baby girl.

“I carried her in this season, but it was her who carried me,” Snook said.

“It’s very easy to act when you’re pregnant because you’ve got hormones raging.

“The proximity of her life growing inside me gave me the strength to do this.

“It’s all for you, from here on out.”

Meanwhile, Netflix show Beef led the Limited Series category, winning Outstanding Show, lead actress for Ali Wong, lead actor for Steven Yeun, and outstanding writing and directing awards.

Earlier, The White Lotus’ Jennifer Coolidge caused an upset by beating the favourite, Australian actress Elizabeth Debicki (The Crown) for Best Supporting Actress in a drama.

Debicki had picked up the Golden Globe and Critics Choice for her portrayal of Princess Diana in the latest season of the Netflix hit, and was considered a sure thing for today’s Emmys.
