Alexi Baker’s appointment at the NRL has been a source of some amusement in the back corridors at Nine, the company she departed last year after soon-to-be-departed CEO Hugh Marks revealed their love affair.
Baker’s new role as chief customer and digital officer, a role created for her by NRL chief Peter V’landys, has some at Nine pointing out the irony of the situation.
Baker has inherited a role created, in part, by the departure of NRL boss Todd Greenberg, who left following a series of reports publicly criticising his performance from Nine and Marks.
A lucky turn of events for Baker who ended up with a top job at the NRL but is now charged with doing what Greenberg could not.
GRACE BROS HEIR CLEARED
Grace Bros heir Justin Drew and his wife Pippi have walked from a Sydney court without a conviction being recorded following a domestic disturbance at their Rose Bay home in 2020.
Magistrate Julie Huber dismissed three charges against Drew although did find both the hotelier and his wife, owners of Waterloo’s Cauliflower Hotel, had resisted police arrest.
The couple have dropped plans to pursue a civil suit against the police.
