Western Sydney schools are seeing a boom in growth.

An analysis of federal government data has revealed the western Sydney region schools where student numbers have risen the most in the past five years.

Between 2013 and 2018 enrolment in Carlingford Public School increased by 106.6 per cent and Auburn’s Alpha Omega Senior College grew 176.2 per cent in the last five years — peaking passed many others.

The Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority figures are the most up to date enrolment numbers that include all state and private schools nationally.

According to the latest public data that includes public and private schools, student numbers have grown from 173 to 243 in the Auburn college, the ninth highest in the region. Carlingford’s population increased from 504 to 780 students in those five years.

Carlingford Public School principal Neil Hinton said the school had seen an increase due to the environment they had created.

“It’s a wonderful school culture,” Mr Hinton said.

“It is friendly, warm, welcoming and inclusive.”

In response to the rapid growth Mr Hinton said the school will be undergoing major facility upgrades.

“We were lucky enough to be selected for a facility upgrade comprising of a $20 million, three storey building consisting of 20 classrooms, a shared learning space and a hall with a capacity for 1000 students,” he said.

The school, according to Mr Hinton, will aim to keep the “small feel” at the primary school.

“I’m excited to offer more students the Carlingford Public School experience.

“But, I would not like the school to become too big, where we outgrow the wonderful new facilities and demountable classrooms have to be brought back to the school.”
