When you can buy a rapid Covid test from Woolworths, supermarkets

Woolworths has revealed when you can buy rapid Covid tests from its stores and how much they will set you back.

Covid tests will join milk and bread on the shopping list from tomorrow, with rapid swabs for sale at a major supermarket.

Woolworths began shipping its stock of rapid antigen Covid tests to stores in NSW, ACT and Victoria today, as well as for customers that ordered them online for delivery.

The grocery giant confirmed it would start stocking Hough Pharma SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Rapid Home Test Kit Nasal Swabs with packs of two for $30 or five tests for $50 available for purchase.

The kits will be available in store from November 3.

Woolworths Supermarkets Commercial Director, Everyday Needs, James Hepworth said: “We’ve been using rapid antigen tests for a couple of months now to help detect and prevent Covid transmission in our distribution centres.

“With the approval from the TGA, we’re glad to now offer at-home kits for our customers to buy.“

People using the rapid antigen tests will need to give themselves a nasal swab before placing the cotton tip into a chemical solution, which will display the results within 10-15 minutes.

But due to limited stock until mid-November, the tests will be sold behind the service desk, and caps will apply for buying them.

Customers can purchase a maximum of 10 self-test kits, either five two packs or two bulk packs of five.

It comes as the Therapeutic Goods Administration approved the sale of rapid antigen tests in supermarkets and pharmacies from November 1.
