NSW is expected to achieve a significant vaccine milestone by the end of the week.

The state will likely reach a 70 per cent vaccination rate for first doses on September 3, with NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian urging eligible residents to book an appointment now.

It comes after three more people died from Covid overnight and NSW recorded another 1164 new Covid cases.

A woman in her 50s, a man in his 80s and a man in his 90s are the latest victims of the virus. 

There is increased concern for residents in Guildford, Merrylands, Auburn, Greenacre, Bankstown and Blacktown. In regional NSW - 32 new cases were detected in Dubbo and four in the far west at Wilcannia.

There have been 43 new cases linked to an outbreak at Parklea prison prompting extra vaccination and infection control at the facility.
