NSW Covid Updates: 935 new cases, four deaths
NSW has recorded 935 new Covid cases while four more people have died from the virus and another regional town is put back into lockdown. Read our Covid blog.
Covid cases are continuing to trend down in NSW with 935 new infections, but the Premier says "we can't read too much into this."
There were four more deaths reported on Monday - two men in their 60s and a man and woman in their 80s.
Cowra in the state's Central West will be placed back into lockdown at 5pm after a nine-year-old boy who attended a school in the region tested positive.
NSW recorded 935 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. 1 case was acquired overseas, & 28 previously reported cases have been excluded following investigation. Gladys Berejiklian doubled down on her warning that the worst period of the pandemic for NSW would come in October.
"I should note that even if case numbers go down, we should expect unfortunately that the number of people in intensive care and the number of people who lose their lives to go up," she said on Monday.
"That is why we need to continue to brace ourselves for October being the worst month for the number of people who pass away and the number of people who need intensive care."
