A Sydney delivery driver has been fined $1000 after he was caught breaching public health orders more than 400km away from home.

The man was driving a Pantech truck towards Armidale on Friday morning when he was stopped by an RBT site in Tamworth about 11.35am, NSW Police said.

When asked for his licence and his recent Covid-19 test result the man provided his address in the Canterbury-Bankstown LGA and a negative test result.

Police said the result was “well outside the 72 hours required under current health orders”.

Canterbury-Bankstown is currently under strict orders for workers to get tested every three days if they work outside the area.

The driver was taken to a local testing site in Tamworth where he underwent a Covid-19 test and was told to leave and return to Sydney.

He was issued with a $1000 Personal Infringement Notice for breaching the public health order.

A high visibility operation is underway in regional NSW with police cracking down over the weekend as drivers from the Greater Sydney area attempt to escape.

Police are urging the public to report any incidents of noncompliance with public health orders to Crimestoppers.

NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller revealed police had issued 227 PINS overnight, 107 of which were linked to the violent protest in the Sydney CBD on Saturday.

Since Saturday, 10,000 reports had been made to Crimestoppers over the protest.

Commissioner Fuller warned rule-breakers they would be tracked down and punished by Strike Force Seasoned.

“It is not just about whether it is an unauthorised protest, it was about the danger that they put all of us at in terms of the Delta variant … (Strike Force Seasoned) will continue to investigate and chase down every individual,” he said.

“The community has spoken about that behaviour. The Premier has spoken about that behaviour and it won't be tolerated again.”
