In an episode that’s so Sydney, swanky salon to the stars Joh Bailey has been swept up in the latest outbreak.

Two clients have tested positive for COVID-19 after visiting the Double Bay salon and a further 900 clients passed through and are “potential contacts“ while three staff worked while infectious.

NSW chief health officer Dr Kerry Chant said yesterday she has: “significant concerns for patrons and staff at Joh Bailey”.

“I expect more cases to be detected over the coming days and I’m urging all clients and staff of Joh Bailey between June 15 and 23 to be tested and maintain quarantine as directed by NSW Health,” Dr Chant said.

But high society personality and hairdresser co-owner Marilyn Koch is adamant her largely rich, famous and powerful clients will return when the outbreak blows over.

Ms Koch - whose diary is coveted by the eastern suburbs set craving a blow wave from the best stylists in town - maintained the salon’s strict safety measures were beyond reproach.

“The reason we were busy is because we have a great reputation for keeping the salon safe and sterilised,” Ms Koch said.

“We are very comfortable in the fact that we have, from the outset, maintained strict Covid-safe protocols.

“I am not worried about losing business in the long-term. Bit by bit we’ll come back.“

According to Ms Koch, the three staff who contracted COVID-19 are all asymptomatic, isolating and “doing very well”.

“We didn’t create Covid or spread it.

“I am not in the centre of this, the eastern suburbs is.

“Our staff are the by-product of the this as much of our clients, who we love and adore. We have had incredible support from our clients.”

The Double Bay salon was closed for deep cleaning on Thursday afternoon.
