Prime Minister Scott Morrison has tested negative to Covid-19 despite being exposed at a top Sydney school’s graduation ceremony on Friday.

The PM was a guest at Kincoppal-Rose Bay’s Graduation Gala at the International Convention Centre Darling Harbour on Friday, but the event was identified by NSW Health as a Covid exposure event on Tuesday with a warning issued for guests to get tested and isolate accordingly.

A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office on Wednesday morning confirmed Mr Morrison had been classified as a casual contact and had tested negative.

“Last night the Prime Minister was deemed a casual contact by NSW Health following attendance at an event last Friday night,” a statement from the PMO read.

“Since the event, the Prime Minister has received two negative PCR tests and as such NSW Health and the Chief Medical Officer has advised he is not required to isolate.

As per the NSW Health guidelines, the Prime Minister will be tested again on day 6.”

The test results mean Mr Morrison will still travel to Queensland on Wednesday after state health officials agreed all safety requirements had been met.

There were fears a new Covid outbreak might include Mr Morrison after the infected person attended the swanky Sydney school’s 1000-person graduation gala.

NSW Health issued an alert for the event attended by Mr Morrison, where he was photographed “hamming” it up with performers Boys in the Band.

It is the second time the school, which charges parents up to $32,000 a year for students in their final two years of school down to $20,000 for kindergarten, has had a positive case after a student contracted Covid in September last year. \\

NSW Health sent out alerts on Tuesday night warning that the 1000 people who were there to get tested for Covid.

“If you were attending the Kincoppal-Rose Bay function you are a casual contact of someone who has tested positive to Covid-19,” the alert read.

“You must get tested immediately and self-isolate until you get a negative result.

“Self-isolation means you may only leave or let others into your home in an emergency or to get tested.

“Get tested again on 16 December.”

Mr Morrison attended the event and was in a photo with the event’s entertainment Boys in the Band.

The musicians posted a photo to Instagram with the caption that they were “honoured, for the second time this week … to perform for our Prime Minster Scott Morrison at the ICC Convention Centre for a 1000 people!”.

The post said the dance floor was packed while they were performing at the school’s gala and they had “had some fun hamming it up in a great photo”.

Mr Morrison was contacted for comment.
