Changes to NSW road map out of Covid lockdown revealed

Premier Dominic Perrottet has made adjustments to NSW’s 70 and 80 per cent road maps with schools, weddings and funerals affected and a change to mask rules.

Major changes to NSW's road map out of lockdown announced

Premier Dominic Perrottet has announced adjustments to NSW’s road map out of lockdown including restrictions on masks, gathering caps and wedding and funeral limits eased.

Here are the changes:

CHANGES TO SCHOOLS

Students will now return to face-to-face learning with NSW Health approved Covid-safe settings on the following dates:

– From October 18 – Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 12

– From October 25 – All remaining years

NEW 70 PER CENT ROAD MAP PLAN

Visiting family and friends:

– 10 person cap on visitors, excluding children 12 and under

– 30 person cap on outdoor public gatherings

Weddings and religious services

– Performers are exempt from the ban on singing

– 10 person cap on choirs in places of worship and at religious services, with all performers to be fully vaccinated

– 100 person cap for weddings and funerals

– No change to caps for those not fully vaccinated

Indoor swimming pools

– Open for swimming lessons, squad training, lap swimming and rehab activities only

NEW 80 PER CENT ROAD MAP PLAN

Visiting family and friends

– 20 person cap on visitors excluding children 12 and under

– 50 person cap on outdoor public gatherings

– No change to caps for those not fully vaccinated

Restaurants and hospitality

– No change. 20 person cap for bookings in hospitality venues to remain

Events and entertainment

– 3000 person limit for controlled outdoor gatherings (e.g. fenced, seated and ticketed)

– No change to 5000 person cap for major recreation facilities, however stadiums may be dealt with by application

Nightclubs

– Open, with seated drinking and no dancing

Amusement centres (including play centres)

– Await further Health advice before a decision is made on 80 per cent settings

Masks

– Masks not required in office buildings. Note: those not fully vaccinated must wear masks in office buildings

NEW DECEMBER 1 SETTING

Events and entertainment

– Greater of 1 per 2sqm and 100 per cent of fixed seated capacity

– Greater of 1 per 2sqm and 100 per cent of fixed seated capacity

CHANGES FOR REGIONAL WORKERS

Employees in regional LGAs (excluding Greater Sydney, Blue Mountains, Wollongong, Shellharbour and the Central Coast) will be permitted to return to their workplace on Monday, October 11 so long as they have had one dose of an approved vaccine. Workers will be given a grace period until November 1 to be fully vaccinated.
