His family is encouraging all their neighbours to come out and take part in the driveway vigil promoted by the NSW RSL to remember those who have served.

“Given that we have a trumpet player in the family and live right near the Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway where they usually hold an Anzac Day Dawn Service each year, we thought it was fitting for us to commemorate the day in a similar way,” Ben’s mum Pauline Su said. “There are people in their homes who might be feeling lonely and scared right now and … we think that doing this is one little way we can bring our community together.”

Benjamin, 11, said he wanted to honour the Anzac tradition.

“It is important to commemorate the soldiers who risked their lives to defend the country,” he said.

“It is important to hold this service because it is important to commemorate the soldiers who risked their lives to defend the country,” he said.

“Many of them died so the least we can do is to hold a service in memory of them.”

RSL NSW is also urging all Australians to stand at the end of their driveways, balconies or living rooms for Dawn Service to commemorate Anzac Day.
