Jeta Gardens Aged Care Facility in Queensland has had 10 deaths, the highest in that state.

The highest death toll in South Australia so far has been at Linsell Lodge Aged Care Facility which has seen seven deaths.

Aged Care Matters Director Dr Sarah Russell who has been tracking deaths in each aged care facility for the last six months, said she started doing it because she was worried no-one else was.

“It takes a lot of work, but I felt it was important that somebody was keeping count,” she said.

“The questions I’ve been asking over the past two years was why were there so many deaths in some homes and not others?

“Other homes have had outbreaks but no deaths. What is about these homes? Were the residents all vaccinated or had their boosters? I wish the Government would reveal that.

“I don’t believe they’re all palliative.

“I’m hearing on the ground from families that their relatives weren’t dying before they got Covid.”
