NSW Covid updates: State records 608 new cases, seven deaths

Covid infections are continuing to trend downwards with 608 new Covid cases recorded on Tuesday. Follow our live Covid blog.

Seven more people have died from Covid in NSW as the state recorded 608 new cases.

Of the seven deaths, Dr Jeremy McAnulty said five people were not vaccinated and two people had received one dose of a Covid vaccine.

There are currently 978 Covid cases admitted to hospital in NSW, with 190 people in intensive care, 94 of whom require ventilation

It comes as Victoria surpassed NSW's worst daily Covid case total, setting an unwanted national record.

The southern state reported 1763 new cases of the virus on Tuesday and four deaths as fears mount that the tradie and lockdown protests have turned into superspreader events. 

After peaking at 1599 cases on September 11, NSW's daily case tally continues to trend down as the state's jab rate barrel towards 70 per cent double vaccinated.
