‘Disgusting’: 38yo nurse reveals industry salary reality

An Australian nurse has revealed the “disgusting” reality of her pay and the wild measures she’s taken to get ahead.

Hayli Hooper works three jobs because she’s “disgustingly” underpaid as a nurse.

The 38-year-old is based in Perth and has established three income streams to help her cope with the cost of living.

She works as a registered nurse and a stripper with an OnlyFans account that she set up to help fund her usually large tax bills.

Her passion is helping people, but she grew up poor and wanted to get ahead financially to help her parents out.

“Nursing is disgustingly underpaid. I had no idea that I was going to have to work for free for three months of the year while racking up $40,000 HECS debt and come out and work in a hospital for anywhere between $35-$50 per hour,” she told news.com.au.

“Yet I can ask a cleaner to come over to my house and they want $60 per hour. Nurses save lives, how is that fair?”

Ms Hooper’s desire to make money comes from need rather than greed. She reckons the average Australian, to live normally now, needs to be making $100,000 per year.

She is aware there’s a stigma that comes with X-rated work, but working as a stripper allows her to still help people.

“Working in the entertainment industry has enabled me to live a high-end lifestyle, getting further ahead in life than most people my age, while still helping others in a practical way,” she explained.

“I work as a casual pool nurse, which means I am on call for last-minute shifts, often in facilities that need staff the most, doing the type of nursing that is the least desirable and therefore get paid more.”

Ms Hooper makes around $50,000 in nursing, $150,000 in stripping, and $100,000 from her successful OnlyFans account.

The nursing work covers her day-to-day expenses, such as groceries, essentials, and public transport, and the stripping money helps her get ahead.

“I spend anywhere from 2-4 nights a week stripping, and this money goes directly into my savings and investment fund,” she said.

“The remainder of my time is spent keeping my OnlyFans up-to-date and engaging with subscribers, which is reserved exclusively for paying tax.”

Ms Hooper got into a more X-rated industry because she simply needed to make ends meet.

“I studied two qualifications back to back for five years, and when you’re studying nursing, you have to do full-time hours of unpaid placements for three months of the year, every year of study,” she pointed out.

“Stripping and OnlyFans got me through that period, which was especially helpful as I had a mortgage to pay.”

Ultimately, all Ms Hooper wants to do is set herself up and help out the people she loves.

“My goal is to set myself up financially and build up my property and business portfolio, so if that means working my ass off for a few more years, so be it.”
