A small family business has given a cowardly criminal a “big f**k you” after a lowlife act decimated a much-loved suburban Adelaide coffee van late last week.
“My heart is completely broken,” the Good Karma Coffee Bar, owned by local couple Dan and Skye, posted to social media on Friday.
“Overnight someone has broken into our van and stolen everything … My coffee machine, my grinder, my eftpos machine, filter, drinks fridge, till, menu, bags full of coffee, tea, even down to my cutlery drawers and empty containers and marshmallows.
“They knew what they needed to start their own business, it seems.”
The business explained the van, which operates near the Christies Beach Surf Club in Adelaide’s southern suburbs, was the family’s “only income”.
“(We are) paying off the massive amount of debt we accumulated from having the cafe. We could not afford insurance, stupid I know but we are living week to week trying to keep a roof over our heads,” the business said.
“I cannot fathom why anyone would do this. If you only knew the time, the effort, the blood, sweat and tears that we have put into this van and this business.
“This has been my family’s life for the last two years, and just like that it is ripped away from us. Even my kids worked here and earns their pocket money helping me.”
The business concluded with a brutal swipe at the desperate crook responsible.
“To whoever did this, a big f**k you!
“Karma will come straight to you!”
“Now we have nothing.”
An image accompanying the heartbreaking post shows the inside of the van utterly up-ended with little more than takeaway cups, milk crates and napkins left.
In a glimmer of home for the stricken family business, hundreds of generous locals have already fundraised $12,500 on GoFundMe – as of Monday 1pm.
Christie’s Beach local Amy Davey who started the fundraiser passed on the business’ story to the wider community adding, “everyone that knows Dan and Skye knows what a massive part of our community they are.”
“They are the heart of our beach and surf club and life won’t be the same without them around.”
Dan and Skye responded Sunday night, thanking Ms Davey and the donors.
“Hopefully, we will be back soon in some shape or form,” the business said.
“This is a trying time for everyone but to have your only income ripped apart and trashed in front of your eyes is complete deviation.
“We will rise from this knowing we have you all behind us.”
