Woolworths slashes price of luxury items before Easter long weekend

Supermarket giant Woolworths has slashed the prices of a beloved product and a number of other luxury items in the lead-up to Easter.

Supermarket giant Woolworths has slashed the prices of rock lobsters and other luxury seafood items in the lead up to Easter.

Woolworths has released its Easter seafood prices, including the return of the $22 rock lobster deal, which are valid from now until April 11.

The supermarket estimates its customers will purchase more than 60,000 rock lobsters and 85 tonnes of fresh salmon before the long weekend.

It’s also estimated Woolworths customers will purchase 200 tonnes of cooked Australian tiger prawns this week, with 120 tonnes expected to be sold on Thursday and 30 tonnes sold on Easter Saturday.

Australia-wide, cooked thawed small rock lobster will cost $22 each, down $5, and fresh skin-on salmon will cost $29 per kilo, down $4.

In NSW, Queensland and Tasmania, fresh large cooked Australian tiger prawns will cost $29 per kilo, down $4.

In NSW, Victoria, South Australia and the Northern Territory, thawed cooked extra large Australian tiger prawns will cost $30 per kilo, down $6.

In South Australia and the NT, thawed cooked medium Australian tiger prawns will cost $24 per kilo, down $2.

And in Queensland, Tasmania and Western Australia, thawed cooked large Australian tiger prawns, will cost $27 per kilo, down $5.

Woolworths seafood commercial director Tim Dudding said “value had never been more important at Woolworths”.

“We want to ensure our customers can enjoy fresh seafood at a competitive price this long weekend,” he said.

“Rock lobster is always one of our most popular seafood products, particularly in the lead up to holidays like Christmas and Easter, so we are pleased to announce the return of our $22 Rock Lobster deal.”
