The fast food chain has introduced a new range of hot, grilled paninis.

There are four signature panini flavours and four breakfast paninis.

Subway’s Senior Manager of Brand Marketing, Ben Miles said the range was an alternative for those Australians who don’t want a “dreary reheated dinner” at work.

“Each individually-crafted panini is topped with toasty tomato, onion, spinach and capsicum, and crowned with a layer of smoky mozzarella, before being toasted until the oozy cheese drips from the crispy ciabatta bread,” he said.

Subway’s panini range features new flavour combinations that include Mediterranean vegetable, buffalo chicken, chicken and bacon ranch and pizza melt.

The breakfast paninis on offer include ham, cheese and tomato melt and BBQ bacon and egg.

The latest offering comes after Subway conducted a controversial menu trial last year.

It introduced more than 25 new menu items — and decided to axe carrots and pickles — before bringing them back.

Mr Miles said Subway’s fresh menu gave guests the chance to indulge in premium-quality cafe and deli style ingredients.

“With more than 20 ingredients recently added to the menu, food-lovers are spoiled for choice when creating their masterpiece,” he said.

Paninis are now in all Subway restaurants and are available for delivery with Uber Eats.

Subway’s Australia & New Zealand country director Geoff Cockerill told News Corp Australia last year the majority of ingredients on the restaurant chain’s menu would be sourced locally, and the menu had been tailored to what customers want.

“We’re not a Michelin star restaurant, but we’re delivering to more of what the guests want,” he said at the time.

The paninis were trialled across 50 restaurants last year before they were rolled out this year.

Subway is also building an app for customers to pre-order their meal and then collect it at their nearest store.
