The boss of industry body Commercial Radio & Audio has announced his resignation, effective immediately.
CRA said in a statement on Monday that Ford Ennals, who was appointed as CEO two years ago, had resigned.
CRA’s chief commercial officer Jo Dick will be acting CEO while a search begins for a permanent replacement.
ARN Media CEO Ciaran Davis – who is also chair of the CRA board – said in a statement: “Ford has made some great contributions during his tenure with CRA. We wish him well for his future role.”
CRA represents more than 260 commercial radio stations in Australia including some of the biggest radio networks such as ARN, Southern Cross Austereo, NOVA Entertainment, Nine Radio and ACE Radio Broadcasters.
Mr Ennals relocated from the UK to Sydney in 2022 to take up the position with CRA and he helped transform the radio measurement system with the rollout of Radio360 in June last year.
It was the biggest overhaul for the industry in decades.
Mr Ennals said in the statement following his exit: “I’ve had the privilege to successfully guide the CRA through a key period of transition.
“I extend my gratitude to the CRA team and our members.
“I am confident that the commercial radio and audio sector is well-positioned for future growth and success.”
It is unclear what his next role will be.
Mr Ennals was contacted but did not respond.
