Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will be among many big names attending Bush Summit events across the nation in August and September, that will look at how governments can support regional and rural communities.

Leaders from across the country will be in attendance in Ballarat, Wagga Wagga, Toowoomba, Mount Gambier, Broome and Darwin to address challenges and find solutions to improve the lives of those living in regional Australia.

What is the National Bush Summit?

The National Bush Summit is organised by News Corp Australia to celebrate and advocate for regional Australia, focusing on the divide between metropolitan and regional areas and addressing urgent challenges faced by rural communities.

Mount Gambier, South Australia – Friday 22 August

Toowoomba, Queensland –Monday August 2025

Wagga Wagga, New South Wales – Wednesday 27 August

Ballarat, Victoria – Friday 29 August

What has happened since the last Bush Summit?

Since its launch in 2019, the Bush Summit has delivered incredible wins and tangible change for the regional and rural communities of Australia through government commitments and policy announcements including the following last year: $180 million for Reef HQ (QLD), $190 million reef investment (QLD), $3.9m commitment to Copperstring Powerlink/Cattleman’s dreaming program for vulnerable youth (QLD), $200m from Premier ‘safety blitz’ upgrade to 72 rural roads black spots (NSW).

The 2024 Bush Summit wrapped up in NSW with politicians, policymakers and regional leaders addressing the challenges such as crippling power bills, targeting crime.

And in Queensland the PM hinted at a long-term multibillion-dollar commitment to “finish” the Bruce Highway.
