A man charged with the attempted shooting murder of another man during an alleged violent altercation in an airport carpark has been named.
A handcuffed Shane Patrick Blanks said little as he was brought into the video link suite of Caboolture Magistrates Court on Thursday, just days after he was slapped with serious charges from the alleged incident last weekend.
He did not make an application for bail during his first appearance, instead being told by magistrate Peter Hasted that he needed to apply to a higher court to do so.
“This court is unable to consider the issue of bail … only a higher court has the power to grant bail,” Mr Hasted said.
Police allege the victim, a 38-year-old Corinda man, was involved in an altercation with a group of others in an Audi A4 in a carpark on Nancy Bird Way at Brisbane airport on Sunday evening.
Mr Blanks, 33, is alleged to have produced a firearm, shooting the victim in the shoulder before fleeing.
The Corinda man was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Police allege in court documents Mr Blanks, from Caboolture, unlawfully used the vehicle in company with one or more persons on the same day as the alleged shooting.
His tainted property charge relates to him allegedly receiving car keys.
His co-accused Michelle Anne Hodge, who police allege was also in the vehicle with Mr Blanks at the time of the shooting has been charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
Mr Blanks was arrested by specialist police in Morayfield on Tuesday, with officers allegedly locating a shortened firearm and ammunition in a stolen Mercedes nearby.
Police allege the victim and occupants of the vehicle were known to each other.
During a brief appearance on Thursday, a lawyer acting for Mr Blanks asked for a lengthy adjournment to move the matter to Brisbane.
He did not make an application for bail.
“I think it’s a good idea to get things under way, these matters have got to be the subject of committal proceedings,” Mr Hasted told the court.
Mr Blanks will return to Brisbane Magistrates Court on July 24.
He is facing 11 charges, including one count each of attempted murder, going armed so as to cause fear, unlawful possession of a weapon, wilful damage, stealing, three counts of receiving tainted property and two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
