Helicopter needed in rescue at Mount Tambourine’s Cameron Falls

Emergency crews rushed to the popular waterfall after reports a young woman had fallen down a steep embankment.

A young woman has had a lucky escape from major injuries after falling 30m down an embankment at a popular waterfall lookout.

Queensland Ambulance said a woman, aged in her 20s, had to be winched via helicopter in what they described as a “difficult extraction,” creating dangerous conditions for the chopper.

The woman was rescued and taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with minor bruises and abrasions.

Paramedics were called to the scene at the Cameron Falls Lookout at Tamborine Mountain, along with the rescue helicopter, about 2.30pm Friday.

Initial reports suggested a young girl had fallen up to 40m.

The woman was rescued about two hours later.
