NSW Covid-19: Testing clinic employee allegedly spat at by man

Police are on the hunt for a man ‘without his two front teeth’ after a disturbing incident at a testing clinic in NSW.

Tamworth to enter one week lockdown

Police are on the hunt for a man who lashed out at testing clinic staff in the Hunter and spat at an employee after becoming furious the facility was closing.

The man, who was described as missing his two front teeth, was waiting for a Covid-19 test at a drive-through clinic in Maitland on Saturday afternoon at 3pm.

“It’s alleged he then spat at the employee, narrowly missing him, before fleeing in a white-coloured vehicle towards Wallace St,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“As inquiries continue, police believe a man described as being of caucasian appearance and without his two front teeth may be of assistance to them.”

The disgusting incident comes after a 51-year-old man was spat on at a Bunnings store in Sydney last month for not wearing a mask.

Deputy Commissioner Gary Worboys said the man was being “chastised” by another man at the retail venue about a “face mask issue”.

“The man who was doing the chastising decided to spit at that man,” he told reporters on Thursday morning.

“That behaviour is just disgusting. It is not called for. These are difficult times. (If) people have an issue that they cannot resolve with some cordial communication between two people in and around these retail settings, they should ring the police.”
