Moment masked men allegedly throw acid at TikTok star’s face in shocking Sydney attack

The moment masked men allegedly threw acid at an Aussie TikTok star’s face, while she was outside a busy restaurant, has been caught on camera.

Sydney acid attack

An Australian TikTok star has suffered burns to her face after three masked men allegedly threw an acid-like substance at her in Sydney’s CBD overnight.

About 11.15pm three masked men were travelling in a black hatchback when police allege they pulled up alongside Jenny Elhassan while she was walking outside the Old Town Hong Kong restaurant on Dixon Street in Haymarket.

Ms Elhassan, 32, was filming a video for TikTok when the trio allegedly jumped out of the vehicle and one of the men threw the unknown substance, believed to be acid, at her.

The men got back into the car and fled the scene while Ms Elhassan was filmed frantically asking for help.

“Water … I can’t see … I can’t breathe … give me mouth to mouth,” she screamed out to her sister Alia in the seconds after the alleged attack.

Afterwards, Ms Elhassan was rushed to Royal North Shore Hospital for treatment for facial injuries.

In a social media clip, filmed from her hospital bed, Ms Elhassan said she feared losing her eyesight.

“I had my glasses on, imagine if I didn’t have my glasses on,” she said.

“They threw black acid on my face in middle of Ramadan.”

Police believe the alleged attack was targeted and an appeal for information has been launched.

While providing an update on Saturday Detective Sean West urged anyone to come forward with details about a vehicle, believed to be a black Mazda SUV CX5 or CX7 model, which was in the vicinity of the crime.

“We don’t exactly know what the acid is … it’s a corrosive substance,” he said.

“We’re looking to determine the precise motive.

“We are aware of certain social media videos that are currently being circulated and that is one of the many lines of inquiry that is being investigated today.”

Detectives spent Saturday morning combing the scene for evidence and footage from local businesses.

NSW Ambulance inspector Andrew Bibby said when paramedics arrived the woman was struggling to breath.

“Her face was quite swollen as a result of the chemical substance which was also impacting her vision,” he said.

“A chemical burn to any part of the body is extremely concerning let alone to a person’s face. Of all the injuries paramedics attend, burns can be the most painful and difficult to manage.”

Ms Elhassan has been discharged from hospital and is recovering at home.
