Two people have been arrested after they allegedly held a man hostage in their home and demanded money from him.
A 25-year-old man told police he had been detained at a house on Samarai Road in Whalan, in Sydney’s west, by people known to him on Saturday.
Police will allege he had been threatened with a knife and told to give his captors money during an altercation.
They will claim the 25-year-old fell out of a window during a physical fight with the male occupant before fleeing the scene on foot.
Police arrived at the home at 6.20pm and established a perimeter with the assistance of the Public Order and Riot Squad, the Tactical Operations Unit, PolAir and the Dog Squad.
Negotiations ensued before police arrested a 38-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman without incident two hours later.
The man was treated by paramedics and taken to Mt Druitt Hospital before being escorted to the police station.
Both people were charged with detaining a person in company with intent to obtain an advantage.
They were refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday.
