Dominic Perrottet’s $440m anti-corruption budget commitment

The NSW government is promising to pump $440m into integrity agencies, including one that cost Gladys Berejiklian her job.

Another $440 million is being pumped into integrity agencies across NSW, including the one that brought down Gladys Berejiklian.

The funding commitment in Tuesday’s state budget will cover the Ombudsman’s Office, the Electoral Commission, the Audit Office and others.

Crucially money will also go towards the Independent Commission Against Corruption, or ICAC, the agency which cost the former premier her job.

The $440 million boost will be over one year and covers what the integrity agencies asked for in extra funding.

Tens of billions of dollars worth of budget promises have already been revealed.

An additional $408m was confirmed on Monday to address elective surgery waiting times, helping thousands of patients left in the lurch.

The health dollars will help hire 267 new staff and pay private hospitals to clear the elective surgery backlog.

The pre-election budget is expected to contain more cost-of-living announcements and confirmation of the premier’s plan to change stamp duty.

Treasurer Matt Kean will deliver his budget speech to the NSW parliament at midday on Tuesday.
