A busy Centrelink office in Adelaide’s northeast is one of the newest locations added to the growing Covid-19 exposure site list in South Australia.
Authorities are urging all customers and front-door staff who were at the Modbury premises on Friday, July 9, from midday to 2pm to immediately isolate for 14 days with their household contacts.
Those people are also required to seek immediate testing and be retested on days five and 13.
The Gawler and District College B-12 College, located north of Adelaide, has also been listed.
A staff member from the school became infectious after attending Tenafeate Creek Wines at Yattalunga the day prior. He went to work as students returned from holidays on Monday.
Anyone who visited the campus, including staff and students, on Monday, July 19, from 7.50am to 3.30pm must seek also isolate for 14 days, along with their household contacts, and be tested on days one, five and 13.
Chief public health officer Nicola Spurrier said on Wednesday night the winery exposure site was one of two “superspreading events”, with the second being The Greek on Halifax restaurant.
Her comments came as the Modbury cluster grew to 12 cases.
Police Commissioner Grant Stevens also confirmed one police officer had been identified as a possible close contact of a confirmed case.
He said three or four colleagues from the Thebarton barracks were sent home on Wednesday as a result, but their isolation did not disrupt services.
“As a normal precaution, that person and the people they worked directly with have been sent home until we go through the Covid testing and confirm they were negative at the time of being at work,” Mr Stevens told ABC Radio on Thursday morning.
“Most of those people can return immediately after the person who may have been a close contact gets a negative result.”
But Mr Stevens said the possible close contact may still need to quarantine for 14 days, regardless of their potential negative test.
He said more than 100 police officers and other staff were in isolation because of possible exposure.
