Murray was arrested just after 5.00am on Thursday following a raid at his Lysterfield South home.

He was interviewed by police, charged with one count of murder and appeared at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

The arrests and subsequent murder charge are part of Victoria Police’s investigation into Mitat Rasimi’s alleged murder on March 3, 2019 in Dandenong.

The 51-year-old was shot numerous times while driving his car in Dawn Ave.

Rasimi was a former associate of drug kingpin Tony Mokbel and had suspected links with outlaw motorcycle gangs.

Two Comanchero bikies, Laiseni Kakato and Richard Enehave, have previously been charged with the murder and remain in custody.

Prosecutors earlier alleged in court that Rasimi was murdered because of a $300,000 debt his brother Ilat reportedly owed the Comancheros.

Assistant Commissioner Bob Hill said Thursday morning’s arrests come after “an incredible amount of work over the past few years.

Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Shane Patton also addressed the matter on national radio on Thursday morning.

“From my point of view this is an outstanding bit of police work over a lengthy period of time,” Mr Patton told 3AW Radio.

Detectives are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
