A man has been rushed to hospital after he was stabbed in the back at a western Sydney train station.

The man, aged 20, suffered a cut from a stabbing to his back at Mount Druitt at about 3:30pm on Tuesday afternoon.

Paramedics were worried about the severity of the injury to the man’s back when they began treatment, according to NSW Ambulance Inspector William Edwards.

“We had three patients involved in a stabbing, one of which had about a three-centimetre cut to his back. We were concerned about some possible internal injuries, as we didn’t know how deep the knife went,” Inspector Edwards said.

“Paramedics and the aeromedical team from CareFlight controlled the bleeding before taking that man to hospital.”

The man was taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.

Police attended the scene after hearing reports of a group of men fighting.

Three adults and two juveniles are in police custody and inquiries are continuing.

Two other men were also injured in the brawl.

One man in his 20s suffered a lip injury while another suffered an ear injury, which were both “fairly minor injuries” according to Inspector Edwards and did not require hospitalisation.
